Meet Dr. Gabor Maté CM (born January 6, 1944) is a Hungarian-born Canadian physician. He has a background in family practice and a special interest in childhood development and trauma, and in their potential lifelong impacts on physical and mental health, including on autoimmune disease, cancer, ADHD, addictions, and a wide range of other conditions.

So how do we become aware of unhelpful beliefs that may be causing stress or illness? 

Don't try to search your mind. You will get lost. I know this sounds funny but the mind doesn't have your answers. You'll just end up going in circles and drive yourself mad. The only way to become aware is through the present moment. This starts with a simple Andean concept known as 'calling yourself back'. It's fascinating how these simple ancient concepts are so amazingly effective.
